The City of Ames offers a variety of convenient payment options for our residents. Simply choose the option that best suits your needs.

Pay Your Bill Online 24/7 (CLICK HERE)

City of Ames has partnered with Nexbillpay to extend an additional payment option for customers interested in using their check, debit, or credit cards. Nexbillpay is a trusted third-party automated payment service that allows you to pay online.

You will need your Account Number provided on your statement.

If you do not have your statement handy, you may request your Account Number by calling City of Ames at 936-336-7278.

Payment By Mail

If paying by check or money order through the mail, please send all payments with your payment coupon. To avoid late fees, please mail your payment at least five-seven business days before the due date specified on your bill.

Payment Drop-off Location

You may pay your bill in person at our office address. We accept cash, check, or money orders. To avoid longer wait times, please note that Mondays, Fridays and the first day after a holiday are normally very busy.

Payment by phone

If paying with a credit card you can either come to the office or conveniently call and pay by phone

Nexbillpay

NexBillpay is our newest payment option, it offers those paying by card the option to set up automated payments and even sends out notifications when your bill is due. However, there is a fee per payment.
